Forrest 6 Hours Championships
10am to 4pm
Six hour events are the most popular form of mountain bike racing in Australia. The Forrest 6 hour has grown to become one of the largest events on the calendar with over 400 riders. Competitors range from national champions in solo categories, through to weekend riders in teams of up to four. Climbing is kept to a minimum and both courses are easy to negotiate. Entries open in March 2012 and fill fast. Check out the website for details.

Endurance Mountain bike event featuring state and national champions as well as weekend social riders. Race lasts for 6 hours on continuous 10km loops of Yaugher single track. Fungi Workshop, The Bizarre and the Beautiful, A Deeper Ex;loration of a Curious Kingdom

The Bizarre and the Beautiful, A Deeper Exploration of a Curious Kingdom’ will take participants deep into the fungi kingdom with a closer look at the characteristics used to identify fungi in the field.
We will also look at some of the evolutionary peculiarities that have resulted in fungi being such a strange and intriguing group.
This workshop also includes an illustrated seminar, an interactive specimen identification session and a foray into local forests.

Fungi Workshop, A Journey into a forgotten kingdom
10:30am to 3:30pm
The Otways is home to an incredible array of bizarre and beautiful fungi.
This workshop introduces participants to the diversity and curiosities of local fungi with a focus on ecology, conservation and identification of fungal species.
It includes an interactive and illustrated seminar exploring the natural and cultural history of the major fungal groups, presenting both Australian and European perspectives.
The seminar will be followed by a hands on identification session where participants will learn how to identify fungi. Participants are encouraged to bring along fungal specimens for this session.
After lunch we will visit local forests for a foray in search of fungi.
